Q&A: With Pattie Duininck Ah Kui
(Editor’s Note: Pattie Duininck Ah Kui is president of Uttermost Ministries based in Samoa with her husband James serving as the Vice President on the Board of Directors. One arm of the ministry is the ship Uttermost Witness, which carries the Gospel to remote South Pacific islands where Rhema Samoa is continuing to grow and Rhema Vanuata launched this past March. Pattie lost her first husband, Kelly, after a two-year battle, to Lou Gehrig’s disease. Then she faced the struggle of keeping the ministry going.)
Q: How has your Rhema foundation help you face difficult situations in life?
A: I was lying on the floor crying after the death of my husband and God whispered to me that I was winning, so I got up swinging! In another situation, I was told I could never take a ship to the remote parts of the pacific islands. God said, “I don’t need your intelligence, or your ability, I just need your faith.” I decided to believe God and that He has granted me victory in every situation of life.
Q: How did your Rhema training prepare you for what you are doing today?
A: I can’t emphasize enough the value of operating in faith towards God, knowing Him, and hearing direction from the Holy Spirit. I have been forged in faith at Rhema and this has sustained me in life and ministry.
(Uttermost Witness recently arrived in Port Vila, Vanuatu. From there it will set sail to reach islands for the Gospel that have never been reached before. Ah Kui and those who work with her are calling this mission “Operation Last Ones.” Rhema South Pacific is truly helping reach the uttermost parts of the earth. “This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come” [Matt. 24:14 NKJV])
